While most of the heavy snow missed the greater Birmingham area, several schools are on delayed starts for Thursday morning due to the threat of ice and dangerous travel. North of the Birmingham metro, which saw much higher snowfall on Wednesday, some school systems are closed.

UAB classes and campus operations will be delayed until 11 a.m. for Thursday, Feb. 26. Essential personnel should coordinate with supervisors.
