Apply for a job at Jefferson County, and you, too, could be a winner. Federal Judge Lynwood Smith proposed an interim solution for Jefferson County’s personnel problems. Until the court, the plaintiffs and the county could establish a fair and unbiased system for hiring and firing county employees, the county could do so with a lottery.
