Philip joined WBHM in 2000, as the program director of the Alabama Reading Service. A native of Birmingham, Philip graduated from Rhodes College and worked as a freelance movie critic with the Birmingham Post-Herald, did freelance writing for advertising agencies, and was the creative director at Martin, White & Mickwee, Inc. Advertising. His work as a TV and Radio writer-producer at Martin, White & Mickwee earned 15 awards from the American Advertising Federation, including five Addys. After six years in advertising, Philip switched careers and was a middle school teacher for eight years, prior to joining WBHM. After a three-year interval during which he and his wife Solange lived in Minneapolis, Philip returned to WBHM in 2015. Today he is an announcer and board operator with the Alabama Reading Service and an announcer with WBHM. Philip and Solange are very nice to their son Cris, aware that he will one day choose their nursing home.
